Samsung Hackathon – Day 2

The first part of the day was a mad rush to make code changes of the first round of presentations. The first round lasted about 1.5 hours. Then we found out we go into the final rounds! We made some quick changes before the big presentation in front of all the attendees and final round of judges. We loaded the app on the judges phones using ConstructVR. ConstructVR is a tool for deploying mobile projects to VR headsets. It was very slick and worked fantastically. Basically is is HockeyApp for VR.

The judges:
John Rodkin – Managing Director, Samsung Accelerator San Francisco
David Oh – Head Of Developer Relations, Meta Co.
Leo Chang – Principal, Samsung Accelerator
Shauna Heller – Founder & CEO, Clay Park VR

My team won best industry specific application! Below is a list of all the winners.

Best industry specific application: Magic Cool Bus.  Multi-user educational ride through space.
Best tool for UGC or game development: Georgi.  Tool for creating and managing local, virtual tours.
Most original/inventive UX: Panavision.  Color shifting to help people with color blindness.
Best multi user application: Virtual Expo.  Multi-user tradeshows in VR.
Best in show: Virtual Expo

Also, the kid in the front coded Virtual Expo by himself over the two days. It was a multi-user experience for attending conferences in VR. Genius kid.

We want to clean up the project and improve some items we would have added had we had time. And I will add some of my own touches to the app before I put it up on my portfolio.

It was an amazing weekend! I learned so much and met some amazing people! Looking forward to the next one!
